Changes to parking on six Camden estates will get underway this summer to improve emergency service and delivery driver access.

Ampthill Square, Number 1 and 2 Ossulston Street, Russell Nurseries, South End Close, Harben Road, West End Sidings, Bourne and Agar Grove will see new rules introduced by August.

These six estates form the first phase of a borough-wide estate parking reconfiguration.

Residents have previously raised concerns about insufficient disabled parking.

According to the council, the new parking strategy “will provide unallocated spaces, offering greater choice and better access for disabled residents”.

The accessibility of this unallocated spacing was also a concern, with Camden Council reporting that some residents were worried “that removing numbered spaces would force them to park further from their homes, which could be challenging for certain groups”.

But the Town Hall argued that “the removal of allocated spaces will allow greater flexibility and improve overall access and safety”.

The changes come at no additional cost to residents.

Camden Council said the public consultation on the changes demonstrated a “strong demand for sustainable amenities” but that “our primary focus remains on health, safety, and wellbeing”.

“Sustainable options will be explored after the initial implementation,” it added.
